The Business Challenge
Hedge funds and investment partnerships have complex financial accounting procedures to track the ownership percentages of their investors throughout the course of the fiscal year. At the end of the fiscal year, K1 tax filings are required by the government, and these tax forms are subject to change on a yearly basis.
In addition, hedge funds and investment partnerships are complex in structure, such as master feeder funds and offshore funds. To properly represent these structures in a software-based accounting application, to track the current ownership percentages of investors at any point during the year, and to automatically generate ready-to-use tax returns is a challenge that requires in-depth knowledge of the financial industry as well as solid design and development skills.
The Solution
Through an in-depth knowledge of the financial industry and the precision execution of product specifications, Engroove led the development team through two major releases of its shrink-wrapped partnership accounting software. Versions 5.0 and 6.0 included ground-breaking functionality, including support for complex fund structures, an open import / export data wizard, and real-time integration with Advent Geneva using BizTalk Server.
Built entirely in VB.NET with a SQL Server database backend, Engroove developed a complete investor servicing and accounting solution, including an industry standard implementation, and a flexible reporting module that provides presentation-ready reports and K1 tax filings.
